Acton 01720undefined

Established in 1735, this grown up rural town is roughly 29 miles west of Boston, 33 miles north east of Worcester and 20 miles south of Lowell. Key residents of Acton were on the firing line in the beginning of the American revolution at Lexington and Concord. The railroad came to Acton in 1784 to address industrialized business in the local area. The railroad is still a key commuting path to Boston from the South Acton stop.

The town elects five members to the Board of Selectmen and has a town manager for day-to-day operation. An annual Town meeting is scheduled to pass/amend the town bylaws. Selectmen's meeting are typically held every two weeks..
